Mrs. Kate Ernst, wife of George Ernst, living about three miles west of this city, died in child birth last Wednesday night, in the 21st year of her age. Mrs. Ernst, whose maiden name was Kate Bennick, was born in Bellevue township in 1860, and was the oldest daughter of our esteemed friends, Mr. and Mrs. Peter Bannick. On the 23rd of December, 1880, she was united in marriage to Mr. George Ernst, a young man who possessed a good reputation and some means, and the two started out in life with fine prospects ahead of them, but alas, death came too soon and robbed the husband of a loving, dutiful, young wife, and the family of an ???able daughter and sister, and ????? ??? ???. Her child was born dead and was buried in the same coffin with its mother. The bereaved families have the sympathy of the community. He funeral took place from the German Lutheran church last Friday. Rev. Lenz officiated, and was largely attended by sorrowing friends.
