Visitation: 4 to 8 p.m. Friday, January 09, 2009 at Lahey Funeral Home, Maquoketa, where a rosary will be held at 7:30 p.m. Visitation will also be held on Saturday one hour before service time at the church.

Interment: Saturday, January 10, 2009 at Sacred Heart Cemetery, Maquoketa, Iowa

Rosemary M. Oster was born November 9, 1930, in Bellevue, Iowa, daughter of Jacob and Frances (Hingtgen) Oster. She married Eugene Adrian on June 28, 1951 in Bellevue, Iowa. He died on January 18, 1958. On January 24, 1959, she married Donald Lee Morehead at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Maquoketa, Iowa. They were to celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary in January.

Rosemary was a cook at Sacred Heart School in earlier years, and later worked with Dr. Gorrell in Maquoketa. She was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Maquoketa. She loved her family and spending time with her grandchildren. She enjoyed her flower and vegetable gardens, playing cards, collecting porcelain dolls, and baking. She delighted in creating elaborate birthday cakes for her grandchildren.

Rosemary is survived by her husband, Donald Morehead of Maquoketa; 4 daughters, Diane Stockham of Maquoketa, Sue (Chuck) Bomia of Monmouth, Judy (Dale) Schmidt of Maquoketa, and Mary (Bob) Ihrig of Long Grove; 10 grandchildren, Thad, Dr. Abigail & Ashley Stockham, Josh & Justin Bomia, Jon (Tina) Schmidt & Stacy Schmidt, Chad, Nathan & Ben Ihrig; one sister, Algean Park of Maquoketa; 2 brothers, Ardell (Marie) Oster of Long Grove, and Eldon Oster of Bellevue; a sister-in-law, Joan Maynard of Maquoketa, and a brother-in-law, Neil (Carolyn) Morehead of Maquoketa. She was preceded in death by her first husband, an infant daughter, Cathy Ann Morehead, her parents, one brother, Gerald Oster, three sister-in-laws and four brother-in-laws.

Rosemary M. Morehead, 78, of Maquoketa, Iowa, died Thursday, January 8, 2009, at Jackson County Regional Health Center in Maquoketa, following a brief illness.
