JOHN H. KUETER, JR.

John H. Kueter Jr., 91, of 2208 Graham Circle, died at noon Saturday, March 26, 2011, at The Finley Hospital, Dubuque, of natural causes.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday, March 30, at St. Patrick's Church. Burial will be in Mount Calvary Cemetery. To celebrate John's life, friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, March 29, at Behr Funeral Home, 1491 Main St., where there will be a parish wake service at 4 p.m.

He was born on Feb. 22, 1920, in Bellevue, Iowa, son of John Henry and Augusta (Eganhouse) Kueter. John served with the Army Air Corps during World War II.

He married Mildred M. Mangers on Oct. 26, 1943, in Albuquerque, N.M.; she preceded him in death on June 4, 2007.

John was employed at the Adams Co. and then at the former Dubuque Packing Co. until his retirement in 1982.

He was a member of St. Mary's Parish and the Meat Cutters Union.

In his spare time, he enjoyed spending time with his family, going out to eat and traveling.

Surviving are three daughters, Judy K. Schraad, of Dubuque, Jane A. (Arnie) Vaske, of Sussex, Wis., and Susan J. "Sue" Kueter, of Dubuque; three sons, Michael H. (Rita) Kueter, John H. Kueter III and Kevin M. Kueter, all of Dubuque; six grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; a sister, Joan (Russell) Schilling, of Dubuque; and three brothers, Hugo Kueter, of Hollywood, Fla., James (Rosie) Kueter, of Anadarko, Okla., and Mark (Glenna) Kueter, of Dubuque.

He also was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Daniel Kueter, in infancy; a grandson, Daniel M. Vaske; and three brothers, Maurice (Marcella) Kueter, Richard (Eileen) Kueter and Cletus Kueter.
