Deceased Name: EILEEN KUETER

Mrs. Richard (Eileen McCarthy) Kueter, 76, of 901 W. Third St., formerly of 866 Salem St., died Tuesday morning, Dec. 5, 2000, at Manor Care Health Services.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at St. Patrick Catholic Church, with the Rev. Ardel Barta officiating. Burial will be in Mount Calvary Cemetery. Friends may call from 3 to 8 p.m. today at Hoffmann-Schneider Funeral Home, 1640 Main St., where there will be a wake service at 4:30 p.m.

Mrs. Kueter worked at Clinton Motors, in Maquoketa, Iowa, and then at John Deere Dubuque Works.

She was born on May 1, 1924, in Otter Creek, Iowa, daughter of John and Mercedes (Pitts) McCarthy. She married Richard Kueter on Nov. 24, 1943, at Holy Rosary Church, La Motte, Iowa.

She graduated from La Motte High School. She was a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church.

Surviving are her husband, Richard Kueter, of Dubuque; a daughter, Karen (Melvin) Digman, of Dubuque; daughters-in-law, Sue Smith, of Buffalo, Iowa, and Wanita Kueter, of Dubuque; eight grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren; and a sister, Jackie (Ralph) Dodson, of California.

She was preceded in death by two sons, Richard and Paul Kueter; her parents; four sisters, Betty, Joanne, Donna and Mary McCarthy; and five brothers, Allen, Bob, Merlin, David and John "Bud" McCarthy.

An Eileen McCarthy Kueter Memorial Fund has been established.
