LEONARD W. BANOWETZ

Beloved husband and father, truly a man after God's own heart age 88, resident of Banning, CA. for 16 years, formerly of Anaheim for 37 years, passed away September 23, 2007. Leonard was born August 19, 1919 in Preston, Iowa. He was a self-employed barber for 45 years.

He served in the U.S. Army during WWII and attained the rank of Staff Sergeant. He was a member of the V.F.W. Desert Edge Post #4417 of Banning, Knights of Columbus, Disabled American Veterans in Santa Ana.

Leonard is survived by his wife, Celina Banowetz, Banning, CA; daughters, Geralyn Eberle, Riverside, CA, Karen Evans and Roseann Deitz, both of Discovery Bay, CA; sons, Gregory Banowetz, Chino CA., Roger Banowetz, Lake Forest, CA, Rick Raffa, Corona, CA; step-sons, Glenn Lishman, Canada, Terry Lishman, Keauu, HI; brothers, Raymond Banowetz, Marion, IA, Norbert Banowetz, Cedar Rapids, IA, Donald Banowetz, Houma, LA; sisters, Gertrude Daehler, Maquoketa, IA, Clara Hermiston, Davenport, IA, Sr. Dolores Banowetz, Debuque, IA; 17 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his son, Col. Dennis Banowetz, PhD.

Visitation Sun., Sept. 30, 2007, 4-8pm with 7pm Rosary at Weaver Mortuary. Mass on Mon., Oct. 1, 2007, 10am at Blessed Kateri Tekakwitha Catholic Church, Beaumont. Burial at 2pm, Riverside National Cemetery, Staging Area #1.
