BELLEVUE, Iowa - Elmer J. Weis, 75, 1208 State St., Bellevue, died Sunday morning, May 24, 1998, at home.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Bellevue, with the Rev. Daniel Knepper officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery, where military rites will be accorded by the Bellevue American Legion Reveille Post 273. Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. today at Kingery Funeral Home, Bellevue, where there will be a scripture service at 6:30 p.m.

Mr. Weis had been a machinist at John Deere Dubuque Works for more than 20 years, retiring in 1972.

He was born on Sept. 19, 1922, in Springbrook, Iowa, son of Peter and Josephine (Schwager) Weis. He married Marian Roling on Feb. 13, 1945, at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Bellevue.

He graduated from St. Joseph High School, Bellevue, in 1941. He was a World War II Army veteran. He was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Bellevue, and its rosary society, and the Bellevue American Legion Reveille Post 273.

Surviving are his wife, Marian; three sons, Bill (Barb), of Dubuque, Gary, at home, and Mark (Judith), of Lake Wales, Fla.; three daughters, Susan (Lauren) Corlis, of Miles, Iowa, Sandra (Douglas) Schroeder, of Newhall, and Julie (Pat) Knake, of Bellevue; 10 grandchildren; one great-grandson; seven step-grandchildren; and four step-great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, one sister and three brothers.
