Florian J. Scheckel
(May 4, 1915 - November 6, 2010)

Florian J. Scheckel, 95, of Springbrook, IA died Saturday, Nov. 6, 2010 at Caledonia Care and Rehab in Caledonia, MN. A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 10, at St. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Springbrook. Father Paul Lippstock will officiate. Burial will be in St. Peter and Paul Cemetery. Friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, at Hachmann Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Bellevue where a prayer service will be held at 3:30 p.m. Friends may also call one hour prior to the service at the church on Wednesday morning.

Florian was born May 4, 1915 in Springbrook, IA to Matthias P and Catherine (Monner) Scheckel. He married Olga Clasen Nov 16, 1937 in Springbrook. She preceded him in death in 1997.

Florian was a lifelong farmer in the Springbroook area and a member of St. Peter and Paul Parish. He was a gentle, kind and caring man, a loving husband, father and grandfather. Florian was honored as Outstanding Senior Citizen by the Springbrook Jaycees in 1979.

He is survived by a daughter, Saverna "Sis" (Eugene) Stemper, Caledonia, MN and a son David J. Scheckel of Bellevue, IA; 16 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; a sister, Daisy (Wilfred) Clasen of LaMotte, IA and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to his wife he was preceded in death by a son and daughter Mahlon, and Leanna (Loras) Kilburg, granddaughter Desiree' Lundin, son-in-law Ardell Schmidt, seven brothers and seven sisters.
