Deceased Name: Charles L. Norpel

MAQUOKETA, Iowa - Charles L. "Charlie" Norpel, 63, of Maquoketa, formerly of Dubuque, passed away peacefully at Crestridge Care Center, Sunday, March 2, 2008, surrounded by his family.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, March 8, at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Bellevue, with the Rev. Stephen Meyer officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. The Kingery~Lemke Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Bellevue, is in charge of the arrangements.

He was born Aug. 10, 1944, in Dubuque, son of Richard and Janaan (Lewis) Norpel Sr. He worked at ARC, in Dubuque.

He loved spending time with his family. He loved country music, dancing, singing, playing his harmonica and guitar. He enjoyed going to movies, especially action films. His favorite holidays were his birthday and Christmas.

Surviving are his two brothers, Richard (Diane) Norpel Jr. and Stephen (Elizabeth) Norpel, all of Bellevue; and three sisters, Mary Norpel, of Dubuque, Suzanne (Charley) Fondell, of Bellevue, and Laura Norpel, of North Liberty; 16 nieces and nephews; and
21 great-nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; grandparents, Earl and Gertrude (Ehrlich) Lewis, Charles and Laura (Meier) Norpel and Herman Pogeman.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Camp Courageous and Albrecht Acres.

Charles "Charlie" L. Norpel, 63, of Maquoketa and formerly of Dubuque, died at Crestridge Care Center on Sunday. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Bellevue. Burial will be in the parish cemetery. Kingery-Lemke Funeral Home and Cremation Services of Bellevue is in charge of the arrangements.
