Dorothy Jess
(January 5, 1918 - February 28, 2011)

Dorothy Jess, 93 of Chandler, Arizona, formerly of Bellevue, died Monday, February 28, 2011 at Harmony Assisted Living Center in Chandler, Arizona.

A Memorial Scripture Service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, April 23 at Hachmann Funeral Home and Cremation Service, Bellevue, where friends may call between 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. Burial will be in the First Presbyterian Church Cemetery, in Bellevue.

Dorothy was born on January 5, 1918 in Bellevue, Iowa, daughter of Roy and Anna (Becker) Cheney. She Married Joseph Jess on May 29, 1939. He passed away February 17, 1981.

Dorothy was employed with the Savanna Army Depot, retiring in 1973.

She enjoyed dancing and playing cards. She was an active member of the eastern star. Dorothy will be deeply missed.

Surviving is her daughter, Vicki (Bruce) Postel, of Chandler, Arizona; two grandchildren, Linnette Strohmyer, of Apple Valley, Minnesota, and Michael (Jill), of Erie, Colorado; three sisters, Thelma Meier, of Dubuque, Vivian Williams, of Barron, Wisconsin, and Lois (Ronald) Petesch, of Hanover, Illinois.

She is preceded in death by her husband; parents; brother, Roger; and sister, Jeanette Rathje.
