Darin D. Helmle, 25, of Sugar Creek, formerly of Maquoketa, died Tuesday, May 29, 2001, in an auto accident north of Preston. Services: 10 a.m. Thursday, Sacred Heart Catholic Church, by the Rev. Tom McDermott. Burial: church cemetery. Friends may call from 3 to 8 p.m. today at Haylock-O'Hara & Lahey Funeral Home, Maquoketa, where a vigil service begins at 7 p.m.

Survivors include his parents, Leroy Jr. and Pam of Maquoketa; a sister, Lisa Jacobs of Springbrook; and a brother, Doug of Davenport.
