Loretta Herrig, 91, of Stonehill Care Center, formerly of La Motte, Iowa, died Saturday, July 6, 2002, at the care center.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at St. Anthony's Catholic Church, with burial in Holy Rosary Cemetery, La Motte. Friends may call after 9:30 a.m. Wednesday at the church.

She was born on June 9, 1911, in Bellevue, Iowa, daughter of Theodore and Catherine (Welch) Hoxmeier. She married Ray Herrig; he died in 1987.

She lived on a farm near La Motte and was a member of Holy Rosary parish for nearly 50 years before moving to Dubuque.

Surviving are her daughters, Johannette (Tom) Baumann, of Phoenix, Ariz., and Sharlye (Allan) Barta, of Wooster, Ohio; grandchildren, Terri (Karl) Dahnke, in Carmel, Ind., Craig (Anne) Barta, of Apex, N.C., and Scott Barta, of Milpitas, Calif.; great-grandchildren, Christina and Jessica Barta; a brother, Leo Hoxmeier, and a sister, Florence Herrig, both of Stonehill Care Center.

She also was preceded in death by her parents; an infant son, Gene Herrig; two brothers; and two sisters.
