BELLEVUE, Iowa - Gene M. Deppe, 59, 34699 167th St., Bellevue, died Saturday morning, Oct. 17, 1998, at home.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Ss. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Springbrook, with the Rev. Don Bakewell officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery, where military rites will be accorded by the Bellevue American Legion. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday at Kingery Funeral Home, Bellevue, where there will be a scripture wake service at 7 p.m., and the Bellevue Knights of Columbus will attend as a group. Friends also may call after 9:30 a.m. Tuesday at the church.

Mr. Deppe farmed one mile west and one mile north of Springbrook. He also owned the Springbrook Feed and Supply Store since 1986.

He was born on Nov. 29, 1938, in Bellevue, son of Louis J. and Irene C. (Kielhold) Deppe. He married Diane Kloft on Nov. 12, 1966, at Ss. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Springbrook.

He lived all of his life in Bellevue, except for time spent in the Army. He was a member of the Ss. Peter and Paul Catholic Church; Bellevue Knights of Columbus Council 1354; Bellevue American Legion Reveille Post 273; and the Men's Bellevue Bowling Association. He was on the board of the Jackson County Pork Producers and the Jackson County Cattleman's Association. He enjoyed his family, especially his grandchildren. He also enjoyed golfing.

Surviving are his wife, Diane; a daughter, Denise (Dan) Wolter, of Bellevue; two grandchildren, Kelsey and Peyton Wolter; one brother, Kenny (Leanna) Deppe, of Preston; three sisters, Karen (Dave) Gonner and Diane (Harvey Jr.) Seiler, both of Bellevue, and Alvara (Jim) Schmidt, of Maquoketa; and a sister-in-law, Gladys Wallace, of Maquoketa.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and a brother, Kermit.
