BELLEVUE, Iowa - Raymond William Wiegert, 64, 28806-320th St., Bellevue, died Wednesday afternoon, March 19, 1997, at The Finley Hospital, Dubuque.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at St. John's Lutheran Church, St. Donatus, with the Rev. Michael Zamzow officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery, where there will be a flag folding ceremony conducted by the Bellevue American Legion Reveille Post 273. Friends may call from 3 to 8 p.m. today at Kingery Funeral Home, Bellevue, and after 10 a.m. Saturday at the church.
Mr. Wiegert farmed his entire life four miles east of La Motte and had been a De Kalb Seed Corn dealer for 16 years.
He was born on April 8, 1932, in rural Bellevue, son of Albert and Elda M. (Felderman) Wiegert. He married Rita M. Schlecht on Dec. 3, 1960, at St. John Lutheran Church, Bellevue.
He served as a sergeant in the Army during the Korean conflict. He was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church, St. Donatus, where he served on the church council. He was a member of the Bellevue American Legion Reveille Post 273 and the Jackson County Farm Bureau.
Surviving are his wife, Rita M.; two sons, Roland and Reynold, both of Bellevue; a daughter, Mrs. Mark (Rhonda) Hefel, of Epworth; a sister, Alverda Beck, of Preston; and four brothers, Laverne (Mary), Harold, and Albert Jr. (Judy), all of Maquoketa, and Eldon (Sandy), of Loveland, Colo.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and two brothers-in-law, John Beck and Richard Schlecht.
