Deceased Name: Dula M. Budde

PRESTON, Iowa - Dula M. Budde, 78, of Preston, died Saturday, Nov. 2, 2002, at home.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Preston, with the Rev. Donald Plamondon officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Friends may call from 3 to 9 p.m. today at the church, where there will be a celebration of life service at 8 p.m. The Miller-Law-Jones Funeral Home, Preston, is in charge of the arrangements.

Mrs. Budde had formerly worked at Clinton Engines, Maquoketa, for 10 years. She also made and sold doll clothes for many years.

She was born on Aug. 19, 1924, in Bellevue, daughter of John and Anna (Even) Zeimet. She married Eldon J. Budde on Aug. 16, 1944, in Springbrook; he died on Jan. 10, 1964.

She was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church and the Preston American Legion Auxiliary. She became a Gold Star Mother following the death of her son, Larry, killed in action during the Vietnam Conflict.

Surviving are three daughters, Mary Ellen (Gary) Schmidt, of Preston, Delores (Dave) Irwin, of Maquoketa, and Darlene (Gary) Hoerschelman, of Andrew; a son, Lynn (Joan) Budde, of Preston; 21 grandchildren; seven great- grandchildren; two brothers, Alvin (Dorothy) Zeimet, of Preston, and Harold (Helen) Zeimet, of Springbrook; a sister, Eileen Costello, of Gulf Breeze, Fla.; six sisters-in-law, Gert Zeimet, of Bellevue, Lavita Budde, of Preston, Joyce (Del) Kramer, of Dubuque, Odillo (Ardis) Steines, of Cuba City, Wis., Imelda (Gene) Schlarmann, of St. Donatus, and Rosalyn Hill, of Bellevue; and two brothers-in-law, Harold Hoffman, of Dubuque, and Lloyd Thola, of Clinton.

She was preceded in death by four sons, Larry Budde, killed in action in Vietnam in 1969, and Daryl Budde, in 1969, Eldon Budde Jr., in 1974, and Terry Budde, in 1980; two grandchildren, Ronald Schmidt and Heather Bohannon; two brothers, Clarence and Orville Zeimet; three brothers-in-law, Vernon, Merrill and Marvin; and two sisters-in-law, Marilyn Thola and Ruth Hoffman.
