Joseph Huling found dead

February 27, 1902The sheriff received a telephone message from Iron Hills, Tuesday evening, February 18, informing him that Joseph Huling was found dead in the road near that place. Deputy Sheriff McKillip went to Iron Hills the same evening and Coroner Ristine, who lives there, impanelled a jury comprised of Thomas Streets, Hiram Follett, and Walter Dutton, who upon a thorough examination decided that the deceased died a natural death. Mrs. Addie Dutton, who was on her way home from Maquoketa, discovered the body. Relatives and friends of the deceased say he was troubled with heart disease. He leaves a wife and four children to mourn their loss. Mr. Huling was an industrious and conscientious man who enjoyed the esteem of his friends. He was born and raised in Jackson County and at the time of his death was living on a farm north of Iron Hills. – Maquoketa Record.
