BELLEVUE, Iowa - Norbert J. Weinschenk, 83, of 302 S. Fourth St., Bellevue, died Monday, Jan. 21, 2002, at Mercy Medical Center-Dubuque.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Bellevue, with the Rev. Scott Bullock officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery, where military rites will be accorded by the Bellevue American Legion Reveille Post 273. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. today at Kingery Funeral Home, Bellevue.

He was born on April 9, 1918, in Bellevue, son of Frank and Theresa (Helmle) Weinschenk. He married Adelle M. Victor on Nov. 16, 1943, at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Bellevue.

He was a World War II Army veteran, having served in Germany. After the service he ran a portable grinding mill, later working at the Bellevue Sand and Gravel Co., retiring in 1981.

He was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church and the Bellevue American Legion. He enjoyed woodworking, coon hunting, snake hunting and fishing, and was a Chicago Cubs fan. He was especially fond of his grandchildren.

Surviving are his wife, Adelle; a daughter, Doris (Randall) Peters, of Mayville, Wis.; a son, Dennis (Jane) Weinschenk, of Bellevue; four grandchildren, Chad and Abby Peters, and Jayden and Brooklynn Weinschenk; and two sisters, Julitta Herrig, of Dubuque, and Dorothy Kueter, of Vista, Calif.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Duane, in 1967; three brothers, Orlyn, Lavern and Gerald; and three sisters, Mildred, Imelda and Millie.
