CARBONDALE, Colo. -- Mary Eileen (Potter) White, of Carbondale, Colo., died peacefully Sunday, March 13, 2005, after a courageous fight against breast cancer. Mary was born May 14, 1962, in Maquoketa, Iowa, a daughter of Arion James and Louise Mary (Mignone) Potter. She graduated from Northeast Community High School in 1980 and moved to Colorado in 1986 where she became an agent with Aspen Ski Tours. She married Franklin TC White on August 28, 1993, in Aspen. Mary was a devoted wife, mother and outdoorswoman, who enjoyed biking, hiking, skiing and yoga. She was active in her children's schools and cherished her time with family and friends. Survivors include her husband, Frank, of Carbondale, and her children, Cullen, age 6, and Rebecca, age 4; her mother, Louise Potter, of Carbondale, Colo.; seven brothers, David (Cynthia) Potter, of Hanover Park, Ill., Steve (Terri) Potter, of Preston, Iowa, Mark (Donna) Potter, of Clinton, Iowa, Jim Potter, of Dubuque, Iowa, Edward Potter, of Fulton, Ill., Randy Potter, Cedar Rapids, Iowa, and Tom (Robin) Potter, Wheatland, Iowa; two sisters, Cathy (Jake) Pruette, of San Francisco, Calif., and Betty (Bruce) Collins, of Rifle, Colo.; and many nieces and nephews. Mary was preceded in death by her father, Arion, in 2003, and brother, Gerry, in 1996. Mass of the Christian Burial will be noon Thursday, March 17, at St. Mary's of the Crown in Carbondale. Father McCormick will officiate. On Saturday, June 11, 2005, at noon a celebration of life will be held in Mary's honor at the base of Basalt Mountain (upper parking area). Many, many, heartfelt thanks and praise to those who have touched Mary's life and ours through this journey.
