Death of An Estimable Lady.

Formerly a resident of Cascade, Died in Masonville.

Mrs. Mary Ann Keegan, wife of Thomas Keegan, died at her home near Masonville, Delaware County, Sunday, April 5, after a severe illness of six weeks duration. She was the only sister of Owen McCaffery, the well known cigar manufacturer, of Maquoketa, and wife of Thomas Keegan, to whom she was married in this city in 1870. The deceased was born in Buffalo, New York, July 27, 1851. Her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Peter McCaffery, died in that city of cholera in 1853, after which her brother and she lived with her grandmother, and in 1857 came to Iowa and settled in Cascade, where she resided up to the time she was married. She was the mother of twelve children, nine boys and three girls, all of whom survived her, and were present at the bedside in her last hours. She was a devoted and loving mother, and her absence from the family circle will be keenly felt. The funeral took place Tuesday, April 7, at St. Mary's Church, Masonville, and was one of the largest ever held in the neighborhood.
