Will Nigg Dies Overseas
Former Maquoketa Boy Serving in France Gives Life for His Country.
Succumbs to Pneumonia

Mrs. Henrietta Nigg, a former resident of Maquoketa, now residing in Davenport, has been called upon to sacrifice the second son, Will, for the sake of democracy, for his name appeared in the casualty list of Tuesday, as a victim of pneumonia. He died on Sunday, October 3, 1918.

Will was well known in Maquoketa where he received his early education and graduated from the Maquoketa high school. He left Maquoketa and went to Mitchell, South Dakota and enlisted in military service about two years ago, serving faithfully since that time.

A brother, Lt. F. C. Nigg, lost his life on the ill fated Cyclops last April, after serving 16 years in the Navy. Another brother, Charles, is also in the service and is an ensign in the navy and has made several trips between America and France.

Besides the mother and brothers, Charles and Lou, one sister, Mrs. H. A. Young of Davenport, and his wife Mrs. Emma Nigg survive.
