July 12, 1946Former Maquoketan Dies in California Accident; Rites Here
Funeral service was held at Buchner chapel Monday afternoon for Lawrence H. Riley, 36, former Maquoketan, who was killed in an accident at Wasco, Calif. The Rev. Harry D. Green officiated and burial was in Mt. Hope cemetery.
Mrs. Riley, the former Velma Collins, was visiting here when she learned of her husband’s death.
The deceased was born in Missouri on April 4, 1910, and came to Maquoketa in 1933, to Velma Collins, who with three children, Herbert, Janet and Lawrence, survive.
Also surviving are four brothers, A. J. Riley, Wasco; Ashton, McFarlane, Calif.; Dan, Hartshorn, Mo., and Charles, of Minneapolis, and two sisters, Mrs. Bertha Compos, Humbolt, Ariz.; and Mrs. Bessie White, McFarlane, Calif.
