July 22, 1943G. F. Trout Died Here This Morning
G. F. Trout, 66, linotype operator for 25 years at the Excelsior-Record, and for the past 15 years at The Jackson Sentinel, died here at 1 a.m. this Thursday. He had been ill for the past several months.
Funeral services will be conducted in the Carson-Balster funeral home at 2 p.m. Saturday. Burial will be made in Mt. Hope cemetery.
George Frank Trout, son of Mr. and Mrs. Franklin Trout was born in Maquoketa April 23, 1876. He was united in marriage with Charlotte Henry in Maquoketa on Sept. 9, 1904.
Surviving besides his widow is his niece. Amarilla Henry, who has made her home with Mr. and Mrs. Trout since she was three years of age. He is the last member of his immediate family.
Mr. Trout spent his entire life in Maquoketa, and most of his adult years was employed on various newspapers here – The Record, the Excelsior-Record, and the Jackson Sentinel. He served as foreman of the Excelsior-Record for a number of years. Some thirty-five years ago he left the newspaper business and conducted a clothing store in partnership with E. D. Harris, but sold out and returned to the Excelsior after a few years in business for himself.
Frank was an excellent workman, steady and efficient, and in his death the newspaper fraternity of this city loses one of its most valuable members, as well as one of the oldest in terms of service
