Mrs. Perry (Winnie) Lamborn 1838-1903

Mrs. Perry Lamborn died at her home in Washington township [Jackson Co., IA] last Thursday at 4:00 o'clock p.m. aged 65 years. Deceased, whose maiden name was Winniferd Cahalan, was born in Galena, January 10, 1838. Being left homeless at an early age, she was given a home by Alexander Reed and wife of Washington township, where she grew to womanhood and was married December 17, 1857, to Perry Lamborn, by the late Judge Kelso of Bellevue, then county judge. Mr. and Mrs. Lamborn were the parents of eight children, six of whom survive to mourn the loss of the departed wife and mother. The surviving children are Mrs. Dora Mix and Mrs. Kitty Powers of Emmettsburg, Wm. H., Samuel H., Charles and Robert at home.

The funeral took place Saturday morning from her late residence, nine miles south of Bellevue and was conducted by Rev. Chas. Memmott. The choi[r] of the Presbyterian church was present and assisted in the service. A large number of the friends and neighbors of deceased were present to pay a last tribute of respect to the memory of a good woman. The pall bearers were George Shaffer, Tom Sweeney, Ralph Blake, John Callahan, August Rickert and Nick Feites. The remains were tenderly laid to rest in the Presbyterian cemetery.
