Jackson Sentinel, September 7, 1876

DIED-

BUTTERWORTH-At Andrew, Jackson county, Iowa, August 24th, A.D. 1876, Mrs. Sarah, wife of Nathaniel Butterworth, Esq., aged 75 years, 4 months and 11 days.

She had a severe attack of Cholera Morbus from which she did not rally. She was married to Esquire Butterworth in the town of Troy, Massachusetts on the 10th day of September, A.D. 1827, and nearly a half century (more than 38 years of which she resided in Jackson county), she proved herself to be an affectionate and pains-taking wife; a kind and tender mother, and was universally beloved by her acquaintances (who were legion), for her kind disposition, for her charity to the poor and needy and for her genuine amiability of character. Her death is a severe affliction to her surviving children and husband, and her friends, but they can all enjoy the consolation that she discharged her whole duty in this life, and that she is now at rest. The surviving members of the family have the sympathies of the whole community in their bereavement. “Requiescat in pace.”- Bellevue Leader
