Emil Burmeister Services Are Held At Lost Nation

Lost Nation, July 14 – Emil Burmeister died at Jackson County hospital Tuesday morning. He had been in poor health for some time and hospitalized for several weeks.

Funeral services were held on Thursday afternoon at 1:30 in the Malamphy chapel and at 2:00 p.m. in Bethlehem Lutheran church, the Rev. Robert Lehmann officiating. Miss Shirley Adrian was soloist and Mrs. Rollin Snyder accompanist.

Emil, son of the late John and Dorothea Burmeister, was born in Germany April 7, 1879. The family came to America when he was a boy and settled in this area. He married Augusta Berner Feb. 28, 1906, and they farmed near here until they moved to town in 1941. She died in 1948.

Survivors include a daughter. Mrs. Edna Bartels of Anamosa; A son, Marvin of Lost Nation; three sisters, Mrs. Clara Werden and Miss Ella Burmeister of Baldwin and Mrs. Marie Kerr of Bowman, No. Dak. two brothers, Leo and John of Lost Nation, and seven grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
