Funeral services for Riley A. Edwards, 71, who died in his home at 5:15 Saturday evening following an illness of two years, will be held Wednesday afternoon at 1:30 in Knox Funeral home chapel, Rock Island, Mr. Edwards, who resided at 702 Twenty-Second St., was a resident of Rock Island for more than 25 years.
Burial will be in the Mount Hope cemetery, Maquoketa, Ia.
Death was attributed to a heart ailment.
Mr. Edwards was born in Maquoketa, Ia, Oct. 11, 1879, and attended school in that community. An employee of the Knox mortuary, Rock Island, for over 20 years, he was married to Leaphy Palmer in Maquoketa on March 30, 1898, and the couple celebrated their 52nd wedding anniversary this year. Mr Edwards was a memeber of the Maquoketa Congregational Church.
Surviving are the widow, a son, King, and a daughter Mrs. E. B. Crosson, all of Rock Island; two sisters Mrs. Myrtle Peace of Caldwell, Id., and Mrs. Russell Frieberg of California, two grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
