Bella SHAW was born in Pennsylvania Dec. 21, 1850. She came to Iowa when a young girl and in 1885, she was married in Andrew Jackson county to William P. Juel. To this union seven children were born, of whom four died in infancy and one daughter, Mrs. Ella Cornish, in 1903. Of the seven, Mrs. Emma Hudson of this city and Mrs. Nora Seda of Davenport survive. Mr. Juel died in 1878 and his widow remarried. In 1882, Mr. George Helferich became her husband. Four children came to this home who with their father are left in bereavement. They are Bertha, now Mrs. Clyde Kauffman, James and Lenice of this city and Phillip of Ft. Dodge. The family moved here about one year ago from Baldwin where Mrs. Helferich was an active member of the Methodist church, having been a Methodist since early womanhood. Funeral services were held Monday afternoon at 2:30 at the home on Dearborn Street, Rev. A.T. Foster of the M.E. church having charge. The remains were laid to rest in Mt. Hope cemetery.
