Funeral Rites Friday for Harry Lapham, Former Baldwin Man

After about a year of ill health, Harry Lapham, son of the late John and Sarah Lapham, died at his home on S. Niagara street at 9:20 o’clock Tuesday morning aged 53 years, three months and two days.

Mr. Lapham was born at Mentor, Ohio, April 15, 1880 and when a child of five years came with the family to Iowa settling in O’Brien county where he grew to manhood. In 1904 the family moved to a farm near Canton, in this county, in which vicinity he made his home until about eight years ago. On Sept. 4, 1912, he was united in marriage to Lulu Buchner, engaging in farming until 1925 when they moved to Baldwin and there conducted the Lapham café until last March when they came to this city. Sunday Mr. Lapham’s condition became serious and continued to fail until his death.

Mr. Lapham was a man of high ideals, ambitious and genial, enjoying a wide circle of friends and the respect of the entire community.

Surviving are his wife, two stepsons, L. E. Buchner of Sasakwa, Okla. and Virtus R. of Sapulpa, Okla.; two grandchildren, Billie and Virtus, Jr., and one brother, Ben of Mission, Texas.

The funeral service will be held at the Buchner chapel this Friday afternoon with the Rev. C. Edward Holyoke of the Reformed church officiating. Interment will be made in Mt. Hope cemetery.
