William R. Ralston was the son of Robert and Mary Ralston; he was born May 5, 1866, at Emeline, Jackson county, Iowa. August 18, 1890, he was married to Miss Ora Huston of Emeline. Two children were born to them, now aged 5 and 7 years. Mr. Ralston died August 25, 1898, aged 32 years 4 months and 20 days. Will was a good neighbor, a kind husband and father, and a good jovial fellow, liked and respected by all who knew him; he leaves a wife and two children who sadly mourn his death. His sudden and unexpected death has cast a gloom of sadness seldom felt over the entire community. The funeral services were conducted by Rev. Delrumple of Canton, at the Union church, Emeline, Saturday, August 27, at 2 o’clock. The church was crowded and several hundred people were present. There were many unable to gain an entrance. The remains were sealed in a beautiful casket and followed by a large concourse of relatives, friends and neighbors to his last resting place in the Canton cemetery, where he will await the final resurrection morn.
