J. H. Merritt, a former old resident of this county – from 1854 to 1890 – died at his home in Sturgis, South Dakota, on July 28. He was the father of A. D. and John Merritt, both respected citizens of this county. Mr. Merritt was 90 years old and a member of the Masonic order for about 70 years.
