NANCY J. WACKER

Nancy J. Wacker, 59, of Delmar, died Monday, June 14, 1999, at Finley Hospital in Dubuque, after a lengthy illness. Funeral services were held at 10:30 a.m., Thursday, June 17, at Carson & Son Funeral and Cremation Services in Maquoketa. Pastor Lorraine Roth of the Delmar United Methodist Church in Delmar, officiated. Visitation was held from 4 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday, June 16, at the funeral home in Maquoketa. Burial was in Bridgeport Cemetery, rural Maquoketa.

Nancy J. Wacker was born on January 5, 1940 in Maquoketa to Melvin and Lillian Jones Allison. She married Thomas L. “Tom” Wacker on Dec. 20, 1959 in Maquoketa.

Nancy J. Wacker was a 1959 Maquoketa Community High School graduate. She then worked at Bon Ton’s Restaurant, Theisen’s in Maquoketa and then worked at Wady’s Inc., in Maquoketa as a saw operator for many years. She had also worked at Pacific Coast Feather Company in Maquoketa for several years.

She was a member of the Delmar United Methodist Church in Delmar. She enjoyed going to antique stores, porcelain dolls, knitting and crocheting, and going to stock car races.

She is survived by her husband, one daughter, Zelma (and Larry) Toerber of Newton, Kansas; two sons, Terry (and Julie) Wacker of Dallas, Georgia, and Richard Wacker of Cumming, Georgia; four grandchildren and one great-grandchild. She was preceded in death by her parents, one brother, one sister and her mother-in-law, Bessie Wacker Tarr on May 23, 1999. A Nancy J. Wacker Memorial Fund has been established.
