October 1, 1920Martha Jean Young was born March 17, 1844 in Jasper, Alabama, and spent her early life in that state. She was united in marriage in 1859 to Thomas Young, who preceded her in death twelve years ago. After marriage she, with her family moved to southern Missouri, which had been her home until nearly five years ago when she came north and has since made her home with her daughter, Mrs. Frank Young, in this city.
She had been a life long member of the Adventist church, but regardless of denomination she loved to be identified with Christians and church work, and whenever strength permitted she could be found with God’s people.
There are left to mourn the loss of a dear good mother, two sons, Wm., of Coldwater, Mo., and James of Delta, Colo., also four daughters, Mrs. Frank Young of this city; Mrs. B. F. Carter of Okemah, Okla.; Mrs. Ann Durr of Hayti, Mo., and Mrs. A. P. Hope of Dexter, Mo.
The funeral was held from the F. C. Young home Thursday afternoon at 2 o’clock, Rev. J. G. Morgan officiating. Interment was made in the Mt. Hope cemetery.
