DIED-
HALL- At his home in this city Friday, June 15, Mr. J. F. Hall, aged 72 years, 4 months.
Mr. Hall was born in Weathersfield, Windsor county, Vermont, Feb. 21, 1811. In November 1830, he was married to Miss Myranda Stoughton who survives him. In 1834 the then young couple went west to the state of New York, where they remained until Sept., 1854, when they came to Iowa and settled on a farm in Maquoketa township. About the year 1865 Mr. Hall removed to the house where he died. He was a very pleasant, old fashioned New Englander, always agreeable to any and everybody he met. He leaves wife who is quite aged, and three children-Mrs. Warren Clark and Mrs. George Parkinson, of this city, and Mrs. John T. Elwood, of Greenleaf, Washington County, Kansas. Six children were buried during deceased’s 53 years of married life.
A kind father and husband, a Christian and an honest man has crossed the dark river.
“Tears drop, all gently, when the aged die,
For now their work is done, and they have long
Craved heavenly domicil.”The Rev. Mr. Crandall preached the sermon at the funeral on Sunday last and the cortege followed the remains to their last resting place in Mt. Hope cemetery.
