James Courtney, of Otter Creek, for years one of the leading Democratic politicians of this county, died last Friday of cancer of the stomach. He was born in Salem, Mass., July 1, 1832, and with his parents came to this county in 1837. He leaves a wife and four children. The funeral services were held at St. Lawrence Catholic church, Sunday and were largely attended, many being present from this city.
