Albert Sidney Rhodes was born in Licking county, Ohio, in January 1845 and came with his parents to Iowa in 1855 and located on a farm northwest of Emeline. At the age of 20 years he started out for himself and little was known of him by the family here except that he was a photographer and was married and the father of a boy in the U. S. navy and a daughter married living in Arkansas with her family of husband and two children. Mr. Rhodes came back to visit his sister, Mrs. Eads on April 25, and it was a happy surprise to her and her family and they had many happy hours of visiting. Soon after Mrs. Eads was taken ill he stayed with her until she passed away. His health was not good of late and he had spent some time at Hot Springs, Ark., for his health before his visit here. On Monday almost without a moment’s notice he passed away at 2:15 p.m. aged over 73 years.
The funeral services were held in connection with his sister’s at Emeline on Tuesday, May 14, and burial in Hickory Grove cemetery, Rev. D. F. Boomershine officiating.
