RICE- At Maquoketa, Jan. 1, 1881, of consumption, Lydia P. Rice, daughter of Isaac H. and Sarah P. French, aged 44 years, 5 months, 16 days.

She was born in Swanton, Franklin County, Vermont. She married Willis A. Rice at Sheldon, Franklin County, Vermont on Feb. 26, 1854, by Rev. Taylor. She and her husband came to Maquoketa in September, 1855, where they have since resided. She was the mother of six children, five of whom are still living.
