Funeral service was held Thursday afternoon at Buchner chapel for Stephen Bird Crane, 77, who dropped dead at 6:30 p.m., Monday on Main Street. The Rev. C. Edward Holyoke officiated and burial was at Buckhorn cemetery. Peerless lodge, Knights of Pythias was in charge of the service.
Born April 18, 1867, in South Fork Township, the deceased was a son of Isaiah and Margaret Crane. Practically his entire life was spent in Maquoketa, where for many years he was a partner of the draying firm of Harding & Crane.
He was carried (married) April 16, 1928 to Katherine Hamley, who died April 22, 1941, after an illiness of many years. Ed Crane of Virginia, is the only immediate survivor.
