Virtus Mohr

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Wednesday in Calvary Lutheran Church in Sabula for Virtus Henry Mohr, 78, of Sabula. The Rev. Henry Dirks officiated; burial was in Reeseville Cemetery. Mr. Mohr died June 22 in Jane Lamb Hospital, Clinton.

Mr. Mohr was born January 1, 1891 in rural Green Island, the son of Fred and Anna Koch Mohr. He married Pearl Jones on July 16, 1916 in Maquoketa. The couple farmed in the Green Island area until they retired to Sabula 21 years ago. Mr. Mohr then worked at Savanna Army Depot and later as a carpenter.

He is survived by his wife; one son, Wilfred of Dubuque; one daughter, Mrs. Ervin (Elaine) Huebber of LeClaire; one step-daughter, Mrs. Lyle Haskin of Sabula; one stepson, Howard Kuhl of Bellevue; five brothers, John, Alfred, William, Fred and Detlef; one sister, Mrs. William (Dora) Werner of Clinton; 12 grandchildren, and six great grandchildren. One child preceded him.
