Jackson Sentinel, Maquoketa, Iowa, Thursday, January 31, 1907
COOLEY.---Isaiah Cooley was born Aug. 17, 1830, near Johnstown, Ohio, died Jan. 28, 1907, at 1:00 a.m., aged 76 years, 5 months and 11 days.
He came to Cedar County, Iowa, with his parents in 1843, who two years later settled near Emeline in Jackson Co., where Mr. Cooley resided until 1901, when he came to Maquoketa. He was married to Nancy A. Robbins, March 17, 1869. Mrs. Cooley preceded him in death Jan. 30, 1903. He leaves to mourn his loss, one daughter, Mrs. John Tracy and grand-daughter, Norma, of Maquoketa, with one sister and four brothers as follows: Mrs. Phillip McGaffey and Lennel Cooley of Emeline, Daniel and Salem Cooley of Onslow and Jas. Cooley of Ione, Cal.
Funeral services were held at the home of Mr. John Tracy on Tuesday afternoon, Jan. 29, 1907, at 2:00 p. m conducted by Rev. Geo. C. Chandler, after which the remains were laid to rest beside his wife in Mt. Hope cemetery. He was a good citizen, a loving husband and father and faithful friend.
