R. W. Crane Answers Summons

Ransford W. Crane, a highly respected and long time resident of Maquoketa, passed away Saturday afternoon on South Main street, following an illness of long duration.

Mr. Crane was the son of Francis and Jane Tillison Crane and was born August 28, 1849. On February 12, 1874, he was united in marriage to Miss Getty Clark and for many years he followed the vocation of farming and resided on a farm west of Maquoketa. Several years ago they retired from active farm life and became residents of this city. Their only child, Mae Hamley, died a number of years ago. Four years ago Mr. and Mrs. Crane celebrated their golden wedding anniversary.

Mr. Crane was a member of the I. O. O. F. lodge, which order will attend the funeral services in a body Wednesday afternoon at 4 o’clock at the late home. Rev. A. W. Sinden of the Congregational church will officiate. Burial will be made in Mt. Hope cemetery.
