Chas. H. Sanborn Was Prominent in Business Circles

Charles H. Sanborn, for more than 50 years a leader in the milling business and prominent in Minneapolis social circles, died suddenly of a heart attack Saturday, June 30, at 3 p.m., at the Minneapolis club while playing bridge with friends. For 24 years Mr. Sanborn had been with the Russell-Miller Milling Co., and since 1923 had been vice president and general sales manager.

Mr. Sanborn was in perfect health when he left for work Saturday morning and took luncheon at the Minneapolis club. He was with a small circle of friends when he was stricken.

He had suffered a stroke in January, 1925, but a few months of convalescence had brought back his health and he had been actively engaged in business up to the time of his death.
Came Here in 1896

Mr. Sanborn came to Minneapolis in 1896 and for several years was associated with the Baldwin Flour Mills Co. In 1904 he joined Russell-Miller Milling Co. as sales manager, a position which he held until five years ago when he became vice president and director. He was an energetic and consistent worker in the development of the Russell-Miller concern and his aggressive sales policy had much to do with its rapid growth in the milling business.

With a son, Howard, Mr. Sanborn had recently organized the Rochester Bread Co., of Rochester, Minn., and had built a large wholesale baking plant. The son is president and manager, and the father was treasurer.
Native of Iowa

Mr. Sanborn was 61 years old, and had lived more than half of his life in Minneapolis. He was born in Maquoketa, Iowa, on March 4, 1867, and came to Minneapolis in 1896. His residence is at 2716 Irving avenue south.

In addition to his influence in the milling business, Mr. Sanborn was active in Minneapolis social circles. He was a member of the Minneapolis club, the Automobile club, Lafayette club, and a charter member and director both of the Rotary and Minneapolis Athletic clubs. He was the second vice president of the Rotary club. He was also a member of Trinity Baptist church.

Announcement of funeral arrangements will not be made until word is received from relatives of Mr. Sanborn, who are living in distant parts. Those surviving him are his wife, Mrs. Anne T. Sanborn; two sons, Howard S., Rochester; and Charles M., of Ramona, Calif.; and two daughters, Mrs. Harry H. Coolidge, Camas, Wash., and Miss Maurine Sanborn, Minneapolis.
