Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, July 14, at Mount Hope Cemetery, Maquoketa, for Helen Goodenow, 89, of Chicago, Ill. She died Friday, July 6, in Chicago.
Helen Goodenow was born Aug. 3, 1894 in Maquoketa to Winfield Scott and Eva Phillips Goodenow. She attended school in Maquoketa and taught rural school and Episcopal Sunday school in the Maquoketa area before moving to Chicago.
She had been employed by Collier magazine and was editor of the American Hairdresser magazine.
She is survived by one sister, Mrs. Alice Melcher of Chicago and nieces and nephews. Mrs. Martha Goodenow of Maquoketa is a sister-in-law of Helen Goodenow.
She was preceded in death by her parents, six brothers and one sister.
