July 27, 1927Death Claims Dan Sullivan Victim of Accident
Dan Sullivan, aged 65 years, of Bernard, died at six o’clock Wednesday evening from injuries received earlier in the afternoon when a team of horses which he was driving ran away.
Mr. Sullivan was riding on a hay rake, driving a team of spirited horses, which became frightened and started to run, throwing him to the ground in front of the rake and dragged him some distance before the horses broke away from the machinery.
His brother Jack and the hired man who were unloading hay at the barn, saw the team running and hurried to his assistance and found him under the rake in an unconscious condition, his skull fractured, hip broken and otherwise badly injured. A physician was summoned and dressed his wounds but his injures were so serious that he passed away a few hour later.
He is survived by five daughters and one son.
Funeral services will be held Friday morning at the South Garry Owen church, Rev. Father Laughlin officiating.
