March 14, 1924Obituary of Jasper Hardin
The deceased was born in Licking county, Ohio, in the year 1844. He came to Jackson county, Iowa, about the time of the Civil war, and settled in the vicinity of Iron Hill, where he lived for many years. In the year 1863 he was united in marriage to Miss Agnes Edith Hill. To this union were born eight children. In the year 1885 Mr. Hardin came to Maquoketa, where he has made his home since that time. His beloved wife passed away in 1886, and from that time Mr. Hardin has made his home visiting back and forth with his children.
For about a month the deceased was in failing health. The end came at last, his spirit taking its flight on March 8th. He passed away in Chicago at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Phila Hiner, at the ripe old age of nearly four score years.
The nearest kin who are left to mourn the loss are three daughters and three sons: Mrs. Lily Collins of Iowa City, Mrs. Phila Hiner of Chicago, Mrs. Bessie Miller of Maquoketa, Amby Hardin of Maquoketa, Aca Hardin of Presidio, Calif., and Aaron Hardin of Newport, Ky.
There are also ten grandchildren and nine great grandchildren. Added to this list of loved ones there is a host of friends who at this time extend their sympathy to those who sorrow.
The funeral took place from the home of Amby Hardin on Wednesday at 2 p.m., with Rev. L. E. Brough officiating.
