February 26, 1924Obituary
Lucy Theresa Teskey was the daughter of George and Jerucia Teskey. She was born near Elwood, Clinton county, Iowa, on Jan. 27, 1876, and grew to womanhood in that vicinity. Later along with her parents she moved to Maquoketa, Iowa, and in 1912 came to Ida Grove and with her sister Margaret started business in the bookstore. During the 12 years she lived here she had won for herself a large circle of close and intimate friends. Her cheerful and unselfish spirit manifested itself in a readiness to lend a helping hand. She was active in many organizations in town and her death is deeply felt and expressions of sympathy are heard on every hand. She was a member of the Rebekah, the Royal Neighbors, and the Yeoman orders of Ida Grove. In the days of her youth she untied with the Methodist church and for years was an active worker in the Epworth League and Sunday school. In addition to the duties of business and home she maintained a deep interest in the Philathea class and did her share towards the charitable and social work of that organization. At the time of her death she was a member of our local church. She will be greatly missed.
She departed this life after a brief but severe sickness on Feb. 20, 1924. She is survived by her father of Maquoketa, three sisters, Miss Margaret Teskey of Ida Grove, Iowa, Mrs. Reason Thompson of Frazeysburg, Ohio, Mrs. William Wilson of Maquoketa, and two brothers, Noble Teskey of Cushing, Okla., and George E. Teskey of Maquoketa.
The community deeply sympathizes with the family in this bereavement and particularly so with Miss Margaret, whom we have known so well.
