MRS. CATHERINE RYLE DIES

Mrs. Catherine Ryle, 68, died at the family residence in Bernard on Saturday evening at 11 o’clock, following a short illness.

Mrs. Ryle was a pioneer resident of this community, and one of its oldest citizens, was born in Jackson county in 1854, the daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Michael Bull. She was a lifelong member of St. Patrick’s church, Garryowen, and a member of the Rosary society of that parish.

Surviving are four sisters, Mrs. Matt (Rose) Redmond, of Ft. Dodge, Iowa, Mrs. William (Mary) Redmond of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, and Agnes and Elizabeth of Dubuque. Three sons, Mike and Gerry, of Bernard, and Eugene, of Marc Island Navy Yard, California; and one daughter, Mrs. Joe Herard of Cascade, and several nieces and nephews, and five grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, two daughters, Mrs. (Mike) Beauchamp, and Mrs. Clem (Lizzie) Fitzpatrick.

The funeral services were held from the home in Bernard, Tuesday morning to St. Patrick’s church, N. Garryowen, at 9 o’clock, Rev. Patrick Malone celebrated the requiem mass, and officiated at the burial services in St. Patrick’s cemetery. Pall bearers were Pat O’Connell, Clem Fitzpatrick, Will Meloy, Rich Lynch, Mike Meehan and Mike Beauchamp.
