MARIA WILHELMINA SCHOCKER LOITZ
(Mary) Maria Wilhelmina Schocker was born November 28, 1879 in Jackson County, Iowa. She was the daughter of Nicholas Henry and Sophia Meinke Schocker. She was baptized May 16, 1880, and confirmed in the Lutheran faith at Andrew, Iowa in the spring of 1895.
She was married October 6, 1897, to Albert F. Loitz at the home of her parents, south of Maquoketa.
She passed to her heavenly home at 6:10 p.m. Friday, January 19, 1940 at her home 308 West Platt Street, Maquoketa.
Although she had been an invalid for the past seven years, her condition was not considered serious until the Sunday previous, when she developed pneumonia.
Transition services were held 1:30 p.m. at her home and 2:00 p.m. at the Lutheran church by Rev. Henry Muellar, pastor.
The body was laid to rest in Mt. Hope cemetery.
