Mrs. A. E. Wray an old and highly respected resident passed away at her home in the First ward of this city Monday morning, Sept. 8, 1903. She was a loving, indulgent wife and mother, a kind neighbor and sympathetic friend. Her presence will be greatly missed by her children and friends while her many good deeds will remain in memory of her life. Maria Dickinson was born at Warrensbough, N. Y., May 3, 1831, and was married to Abijah E. Wray January 2, 1849. They moved to Iowa in 1854 and settled on a farm two miles south of this city; later they moved to Dyersville this state where they remained a short time finally settling in Maquoketa. Five children survive – Dr. Frank H. now located at Davenport, Fred F., Freeman W., Emerson P., Mrs. Henry Meyer and five grand children Kenneth, Lester, Beulah, Della and Mildred Wray. The husband preceding her Feb. 4, 1899. The funeral will be held at the Congregational church at 2 o’clock this afternoon with burial in Mt. Hope cemetery.
