April 12, 1890Obituary.
Miss Sally Daniels was born Feb. 5, in Onondago County, N. Y. On March 29, 1829, she married William Stuart in Fabius, Onondago County, N. Y. In 1833 they settled in northern Ohio, and in 1852, with their five children, they moved to Iowa and settled on a farm in Jones County, two miles west of Monmouth. During the year 1871, she, with her husband, went to California and lived with their son Charles until his death in the same year. After the death of her husband, which occurred the next year, she returned to Iowa and lived in the family of her oldest son, L. W. Stuart, until the time of her death, April 3, 1890. When she was quite young, she embraced the religion of Jesus Christ and united with the M. E. Church, the tenets of which she has ever since been a firm believer. She was a woman of scholarly attainments. Prior to her marriage she devoted a portion of her time to the honorable occupation of school teaching. She was ever true to her marriage vows, a faithful wife and a kind and loving mother. She always won the love and respect of those who became acquainted with her. Thus has she filled her God-given mission and passed from the troubles of life to that better land where joy and peace forever reign. The funeral service was held at the home of L. W. Stuart, near Monmouth, Iowa, April 5, conducted by Rev. J. R. A. Hanner, and the remains were laid to rest until the resurrection, in the Monmouth cemetery.
