George Bradway was born in New Jersey, Feb. 2nd, 1843 and passed away at the city Memorial Hospital, Tuesday, Oct. 26, 1920, at the age of 77 years, 8 months and 24 days.

In 1857 he came to Jackson county and settled near Esgate, where he lived until about a year ago, when he moved to Maquoketa. In 1861, when the call was given for volunteers to fight for our country, he enlisted and was a faithful soldier, until the war ended when he received his discharge. Mr. Bradway was an ardent patriot, and always interested in the affairs of the country, always ready to do his part. His parents, Mark D. and Emeline Bradway, preceded him in death several years ago. His brother Vincent passed away when young and his only sister, Mrs. Emily Robinson, died about a year ago, leaving her son, Orizal Robinson of Perry, Iowa, besides other relatives and a host of friends to mourn his loss.

Funeral services were held at the Esgate church Friday afternoon, with burial at the Esgate cemetery, Rev. Lang of the M. E. church officiating.
