July 8, 1930Former Resident Buried Friday in Mount Hope
The body of DeLoss Shrigley, a former resident, was brought here Friday for burial, the service being held in the Buchner chapel with Rev. D. E. Boomershine officiating. The nephews acted as pall bearers.
The following obituary has been given for publication:
DeLoss Shrigley, second son of William L. and Frances Shirgley, was born in Maquoketa, April 12, 1867. He attended the public schools here and learned and followed the trade of decorator and painter.
Oct. 23, 1887, he was married to Miss Neil Young of Monticello, Iowa. One daughter, Hazel, blessed their home. His wife died March 13, 1909.
He made a profession of religion in 1915 and was loyal to his faith until his death which occurred after a brief illness while he was visiting in Sioux Falls, South Dakota.
He is survived by his daughter, Mrs. Hazel See of Kansas City, Mo., and three sisters, Mrs. Flora Miller and Mrs. Lena Sharp both of Maquoketa, Mrs. Bessie Taylor of Cedar Rapids and a number of nieces, nephews and other relatives.
His daughter, Mrs. See accompanied the remains to their last resting place.
